I made this album while caretaking for my mom. She was diagnosed with cancer the same year I got home from living in Taiwan. I went to teach and came back ready to "live" and "get it together"—guided by the vague intuition shed by any chaotic restructuring of one's life. Then the news came. And that was the end of that. My family made the decision to isolate since no one could really give us an answer to how my mom would do with covid. So—no friends, or real dating, I wasn't really working either. Instead I walked my parent's dog; I cooked.

Eventually a friend asked me to make some music for his biking stream. I got to work and eventually emerged with this hour of music. It was just something I would listen to while caretaking: something small and personal even though it was ostensibly born of a commission. I guess it was some attempt to blur and tear at the digital lines that structured my year: social media, dating apps, panicked google searches, the cascading images of Netflix that would wash over me each night. And here it is. It's called Biking with Gus. I hope you enjoy it.
